Sometimes you have to gracefully and graciously let go of things that are not meant for you.
The past couple of weekends I’ve been escaping the city and spending time at GK’s Enchanted Farm in Bulacan. It was originally just because I joined their Social Business Camp for Social Entrepreneurs, but then I fell madly in love with the place, the people, and the projects.
One that’s particularly close to my heart is Agricool. Basically the goal is to make farming and everything that’s related to agriculture the next big thing. My mentor Cherrie (the incredible one carrying the goat) wants to get rid of this impression we have when we think of farming and farmers in general. You’re no longer “just” a farmer. You’re making a conscious decision to study an industry that will help and empower our country in so many ways.
I’ve been having the time of my life waking up with my gardening gloves at 5:45 surrounded by hectares and hectares of farmland. Some places really take your breath away and I’m doing everything that I can to make sure that my kids and the generations to come still get to experience that asthma attack like feeling when they see the breathtaking view of all the shades of green.
Bulacan is only an hour and 30 minutes away from Manila so do message me if you’re interested in visiting!
Please like AGRICOOL on Facebook and if you’re up for it, spread some green loving by tweeting or tagging us in your photos taken at the farm or of your organic greens and using the hashtag #agricool!
“Hey, don’t be afraid to be the new kid on the block. Wear it with pride.”
Another week spent with the most incredible bunch of people. I can’t wait to share more photos of the kids and the farm and all that green we got to enjoy!
1. It has been a while since I last read something in Tagalog. I guess growing up I avoided (?) our literature. It sounds really stupid but hey, it’s never too late to turn things around. So Severino Reyes’ Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang is my new bedtime book. 2. Lokohan sa Langit 3. Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan, Pilipinas! Hooray to 115 years of Independence. 4. Had an independence day date at The Ayala Museum with mom. Best conversation: I brought up how I always wanted to be a historian and mom simply said, “It’s never to late.” Wow! 5. Ended the day with a musical Wednesdate with my high school friends. Rachelle Ann Go’s super mega fake British accent was so annoying, but we all left Meralco Theater imitating her.
Working with GK again tomorrow at the Enchanted Farm in Bulacan so it is time to get away from the city and the clutter!

I am back in the motherland, and I actually arrived with my luggage! Thank you Cathay Pacific for not being a pain this time around. The weekend was a bit of a blur — the good kind though! One giant cloud of supreme. I’m part of Gawad Kalinga’s Social Business Camp this month, and I want to have a 30 second dance party right now because I am so inspired by all the social entrepreneurs I got to meet at the farm. I bumped into my incredibly inspiring friend Lara, who’s 1/3 of the Reál Cacao team producing pure cacao goodness that’s 100% Filipino! I promise I’ll write more about their social enterprise reaaaal soon but for now I will flood you all with photos from Enchanted Farm and the workshops we’ve had!

Lara introduced me to her favorite thinking chair.

Cream of the Crop’s ice cream was the bomb.

I have a friend who once said that malunggay will save the world.
Malunggay ice cream, I love you.

The social entrepreneur and the intern!

Agricool, you are spot on.

Curiosity Design Research Collective’s workshop definitely snapped us out of siesta mode.
